First comes LG’s wearable air purifier, then comes IKEA’s indoor version for clean air all day long.
The Swedish furniture giant is debuting a sleek FÖRNUFTIG indoor air purifier with the goal to make clean indoor air something that everybody can afford and cut down on air pollution at home.
“Today, air purifiers aren’t a viable option for most people, in particular not for those living in space spaces,” described Henrik Telander, Product Owner at IKEA in Sweden. He said IKEA believes “clean indoor air shouldn’t be a luxury for the few.”
“That’s why one of our main priorities in developing FÖRNUFTIG air purifier was to achieve a low price for both the air purifier and the filters,” Telander continued.
The device is thoughtfully built with a pre-filter that blocks out larger particles like hair and dust, as well as smaller airborne particles like cleaning material chemicals, pollen, and cooking and smoking odors. This means fewer allergens and irritants will be floating around in the air.
To ensure efficiency in spite of value price, IKEA used “less material in a smarter way” for the FÖRNUFTIG air purifier, Telander noted. It is also optimized to reach 10 square meters (107 square feet) of space.
All this won’t compromise the look of your home’s interior. While air purifiers are usually clunky and distracting, this one is decked in a gentle and classy gray to blend gracefully into your living space.
Customers around the world told IKEA this year that they would love to bring nature closer to home. The addition of clean air will certainly help satisfy the functional merits of greenery.
The FÖRNUFTIG air purifier will first launch in China, before hitting stores around the world in February 2021.
