Google Opens Entire Workspace Suite To All, Free Of Charge

When Google first unveiled Workspace—formerly G Suite—in October last year, it was the first time users had the option of a single, integrated experience for the myriad apps the tech giant offers.
Gmail, Chat, Calendar, Docs, and Sheets could all be accessed from the same page, eliminating the need to switch back and forth between tabs. However, this service was initially only made available to those with a paid enterprise account.
From this week, the tech firm is making Workspace accessible to anyone with a Google account, free of charge. To enable Google Workspace, simply turn on Google Chat.
Highlights include Google Chat’s collaboration feature, which allows users to share and keep track of ideas and discussions. From pictures and videos to Google Docs and Sheets, everything can now be found in one place.
Plus, smart suggestions help you link to recommended files easily, and enables you to @-mention others to alert them specifically, be it in an email or invite in Calendar.
Those using Google Meet for meetings will also be able to present the file they’re working on directly in the call with just a click.
Google is also introducing new features to Rooms. Over the summer, it’ll be expanding Rooms to become Spaces, introducing a streamlined user interface to boost productivity.
New functions will include in-line topic threading, presence indicators, custom statuses, express reactions, and a collapsible view.
Though Google Workspace is now free of charge, entrepreneurs or other power users of Google can choose its new subscription offering: Google Workspace Individual.
This paid service will allow small business owners to get more done professionally. Users who sign up for the subscription plan will gain access to premium features, such as smart booking services, professional video meetings, personalized email marketing, and more.
Though Google Workspace Individual has yet to launch, interested users can sign up here to receive updates. The service will soon be rolled out to the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Australia, and Japan.
