Razer’s Final Design For ‘World’s Smartest Mask’ Is Ready, Retailing This Year

Back in January this year, Razer revealed the concept for ‘Project Hazel’ at the CES 2021, claiming to have designed the “smartest face mask ever.” The face covering was slated to revolutionize the respirator industry by embedding features such as special lighting systems, a mic, and amplifier.
Now, Razer has debuted the final version of the Project Hazel N95 Mask, and it is scheduled to start shipping in the fall.
It comes with new features, including an anti-fog coating on the transparent section of the mask, so others can see your mouth when you’re speaking. It also appears to be more streamlined than in the concept pictures, as per CNET.
Even though it may appear to be a little late, since most people would be vaccinated by the fall, Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan feels otherwise.
“We’ve realized that even with vaccinations, we are hearing you still have to be masked up because there is still the risk factor – that even if you’re vaccinated you still need to be incredibly careful,” he explained.
The mask boasts other impressive features, including active ventilation for easier breathing, and autosterilization to keep it clean. It also comes with a separate case that’s able to charge the mask wirelessly, with a UV sterilizer to boot.
The Project Hazel N95 Mask also uses replaceable filters and rechargeable ventilators, making it an eco-conscious alternative to single-use masks.
Razer has also included LED lights on the pods to help indicate their charge status, and separate internal LEDs to help your mouth be more visible to others in low-light settings. The pods also come with audio processing algorithms to help you articulate clearer and more naturally even when a mask on.
Unfortunately, there still hasn’t been any news on how much the Project Hazel N95 Mask will go for. But you can try it on in augmented reality (AR) on Instagram in the meantime. To register for the drop list, visit Razer’s site here.
