Logitech Introduces Touch Devices For Hybrid Work Amid Cautious Return To Office

Expanding upon its lineup of hybrid working essentials following the all-in-one dock that was unveiled just earlier this month, Logitech is introducing two new devices to help its customers ease back into the office.
“The current touch controller market has a Goldilocks problem,” declares Scott Wharton, general manager and vice president of Logitech Video Collaboration, in the products’ press release.
The high end is “complex, expensive, and largely proprietary,” he continues, while the lower end remains “dominated by consumer tablets that were not designed with enterprise requirements.”
Thus, Logitech endeavored to create something that was easily compatible with major market service providers and enterprise-grade performance.
Tap IP is a network-based meeting controller for remote working, while the Tap Scheduler will act as a meeting scheduling panel for those returning to the office.
The new Tap IP works with popular video calling / meeting platforms such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams to “deliver a reliable, consistent experience from room to room.” The company claims this won’t change, regardless of where users are—at home, in office, or both.
Alongside a clean cable management system, there’s also the option to mount the device onto a wall. A single Power over Ethernet (PoE) cable is all that’s needed for the device to go online, and it can also be connected via Wi-Fi.
With its 10.1-inch touchscreen, the Tap Scheduler is designed to be placed just outside meeting rooms so they can either be claimed for last-minute meetings or booked in advance. This works with the Microsoft Room, Zoom, Meetio, and Robin software to display details of upcoming events.
Furthering its focus on video conferencing, Logitech is also offering a new all-in-one service plan for its video collaboration solutions: Logitech Select. This includes 24/7 support for the devices, which are designed to be deployed at scale.
Both the Tap IP and Tap Scheduler will be made available worldwide from Fall 2021, and are expected to retail at US$699 each.
