‘Squid Game’ VFX Video Shows CGI In Places You Wouldn’t Expect It To Be

There’s a lot of CGI in the Netflix blockbuster series Squid Game—that much is clear. However, the quality of the visual effects is so stellar, it’s easy to forget that certain objects aren’t actually there (looking at you, Henry Cavill’s ever-present phantom mustache), and even props one would imagine were made by hand are the result of computer graphics.
Gulliver Studios’ Hyungrok Kim, who was a CG supervisor for Squid Game, has shared a behind-the-scenes video revealing digital additions viewers might have thought were real, and it’s evident where much of the show’s US$21.4 million budget went into.
For example, while the kaleidoscopic pastel staircase was a real set, some of it was edited in. Also, who would have thought that the infamous money pot—the entirety of it—was conjured up out of thin air?
