Dogecoin Spikes As Tesla Announces It’ll Accept The Coin For Merchandise

Dogecoin, a popular cryptocurrency based on a meme, saw its price surging this week after Elon Musk said Tesla would accept the coin for certain merchandise, as per a report from CNET.
“Tesla will make some merch buyable with Doge and see how it goes,” Musk tweeted.
At the moment, it isn’t clear what customers can purchase using Dogecoin. Though, whatever it is, it’ll probably go fast, seeing as how the company’s US$50 Cyberwhistle sold out nearly instantaneously. Earlier this month, it released a Cyberquad For Kids as well, with the mini ATV retailing at a staggering US$1,900.
If you’re eyeing a larger purchase, you can now indirectly purchase a Tesla vehicle via Dogecoin, too.
Whatever Tesla decides to offer to cryptocurrency enthusiasts, there’s no doubt Musk is a leading figure in the space. In fact, he was named TIME Person of the Year 2021 partly because just a single tweet from him has been able to see markets spike or crumble.
