Tesla created a whistle, called it the ‘Cyberwhistle’, smacked a US$50 price tag on it—and it sold out within hours.
Inspired by the yet-to-be-launched Cybertruck, the whistle is meant to poke fun at “whistleblowers” and Apple’s microfiber polishing cloth.
“Don’t waste your money on that silly Apple cloth, buy our whistle instead,” said founder Elon Musk.
In recent months, the automaker has faced complaints brought against it by whistleblowers who have alleged workplace sexual harassment and racial abuse. A ruling in October ordered the firm to pay US$137 million in damages for failing to stop a former work from being subjected to a “racially hostile work environment.”

The Cyberwhistle, which was listed as a limited-edition “premium collectible,” is made out of medical-grade stainless steel, along with a polished finish. It’s said to come with “an integrated attachment feature for added versatility,” though it’s unclear what the function is exactly.
Currently, there aren’t any Cyberwhistles left on the official site for purchase, though according to The Independent, scalpers have begun listing them on resale sites for several times the original price.
Other merchandise available include mugs, tumblers, and die-cast models of Tesla vehicles.
