LG Unveils Speaker That Bounces Audio Off The Ceiling For Realistic Sound

With CES 2022 coming up soon, LG is making its plans and presence known. First, we had the television capable of disguising itself in case you just really can’t stand having a television—and now, there is a speaker system that can apparently beam audio at you from above.
The LG S95QR Dolby Atmos Soundbar, unveiled on Friday, features five “up-firing” channels—three on the soundbar and two in separate rear speakers. By bouncing sound off the ceiling, the design will allow dialogue to sound as if it’s coming from the middle of the screen.
This is said to “improve clarity and enlarge the soundstage for the ultimate in realism,” which will come in handy when creating a home cinema experience.
Along with 810W and 9.1.5 channels of audio in addition to a wireless subwoofer, LG is further enhancing sound by changing its rear wireless speakers. Six, instead of four, channels of audio will boast better dispersed sound behind the viewer.
Both music lovers and gamers alike will benefit from variable refresh rate (VRR) and auto low latency mode (ALLM), which, along with a more stable wireless connection, will reduce the lag between visuals and audio.
LG plans to reveal the gadget in all its glory January 4, at its virtual CES booth. Although there is no current information on pricing and availability, it will most probably come then, too.
