On Tuesday, electronics company LG unveiled two brand-new televisions designed for “today’s home-centric way of life.”
The unique designs are perfect to suit two ends of a spectrum: those who need a TV but think it’s a jarring addition to an otherwise-stylish living room; and those who really like having a television and want it with them all the time.
A design for the former comes in the form of the Objet, a 65-inch panel that boasts all the makings of a superb viewing experience, from a 4.2-channel sound system to a stunning OLED screen.
But taking it one step further is the fact that the television can, essentially, disguise itself with the push of a button. Along with the neutral color palette for maximum “sophistication and visual harmony,” the design also comes with a fabric cover that can be lowered to cover up the screen.
While users are able to hide it entirely, there’s also the option for a section to remain uncovered, which will then display a “curated selection of lifestyle functions” such as an audio player or the date and time.

This fabric was designed in collaboration with Danish textile firm
Kvadrat, and comes in three signature colors: beige, redwood, and green. These were chosen, LG says, to “match a wide color palette and blend in with a range of interior designs.”
Further contributing to the Objet’s visuals is the fact that it can be positioned against a wall at up to a five-degree angle, which the firm likens to “artwork in a modern gallery.” Of course, there’s also the option to install it flush against the wall for maximum integration.
But for those who greatly enjoy the company of their entertainment, there’s the StanByME, which, as the name may suggest, is the perfect reliable companion for someone who cannot imagine life without a television. Spanning a 27-inch display and hoisted upon a wheeled stand, this display might just be able to pass off as an oversized tablet on a very large mount.

With a three-hour battery capacity, LG says this product “can be easily moved from room to room for the ultimate in viewing freedom.” In addition to entertainment, the screen can also be used for video conferencing and viewing online lectures. Users can rotate it to portrait or landscape mode, which ensures “optimal comfort.”

Both these headlining products will be fully introduced at CES 2022 on January 4, presumably along with information on pricing and availability.
