LG ‘Stands’ Out With Tall Double Monitor That Boasts Twice The Height
If you appreciate the appeal of having two screens to look at but don’t have the room to accommodate another monitor or tablet on your desk, take it from high-rise architecture and some really clever tiny homes—build upwards. LG is now expanding on this concept by making a vertical monitor with the height of two screens.
Described as a “multitasking powerhouse,” the new LG ‘DualUp’ monitor bears an unprecedented 16:18 aspect ratio, sporting the height of two 21.5-inch displays, that lets you work on two interfaces at once.
The monitor can be used as a seamless, almost-square display, though you’ll also have the option of splitting it into two views.
With a vertical screen, LG justifies that the DualUp could eliminate the neck strain one might get from constantly turning their head between two side-by-side screens. Also, it allows you to view double the amount of information without eating into desk space.
In terms of specs, the DualUp features a 2,560 x 2,880-pixel resolution, two HDMI ports, three USB ports, one display port, an a USB-C port.
Announced alongside the DualUp is the (horizontal) ‘UltraFine’ monitor, a 32-inch ultra-HD display with 4K resolution. While it doesn’t boast the height of its vertically-inclined sibling, it makes up for it with an all-new Nano IPD Black panel—LG’s first—giving a contrast ratio of 2,000 to one.
Both monitors are touted as tools to boost productivity for work from home. LG will disclose more details about them at CES 2022 on January 4.
