Late last year, Michael Jordan and his son, Jeffrey Jordan, made waves in the metaverse when they launched a non-fungible token marketplace, HEIR Inc.
Now, the Solana-based platform’s first collection has launched, allowing first-comers to gain the coveted title of “founding fans.”
According to Decrypt, the 6 Rings NFTs were inspired by Jordan’s six NBA championships, which he won with the Chicago Bulls nearly three decades ago.
Over 5,000 NFTs were sold at 2.3 SOL (US$221) each, a nod to Jordan’s iconic jersey number. At first, 10,010 tokens had been prepared for the launch, but the selection was reduced by half due to the slower-than-expected pace of sales.
As per AfroTech, all of the digital assets have since sold out, though some have reappeared on secondary exchanges.
“Founding fans” who secured the first batch of NFTs will now gain access to exclusive content on the platform, including merchandise drops, Q&A sessions, and restricted communities called “huddles.”
“We’ll be exploring many ways to thoughtfully bring fans into the community, while always ensuring we are honoring our founding fans in a unique way,” said Jeffrey Jordan.
“We aim to redefine the perspective and functionality of digital culture, while creating benefits for original culture creators and those who consume it early,” he added.
