Apple To Boost iPad’s Multitasking Prowess With A Revamped Interface

With Apple’s WWDC just a week away, there’s no shortage of insider information finding its way to expectant Apple fans, with rumors recently surfacing about an always-on screen for iOS 16, and how the technology giant has engineered a camera to fit in its Watch crown.

Now, according to a new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, it appears Apple may unveil a major multitasking update for iPadOS 16, in a bid to further raise the status of its tablet as an alternative to a laptop. 

Insider sources told Gurman it’s likely iPadOS 16 will come with a new interface, allowing users to resize several apps at once. At the moment, as per Engadget, the iPad only allows apps to be run in full screen or side by side ‘Split View’ mode.

If the whispers do come to pass, users will have an easier time toggling between the different apps, and how they they’re placed on the screen for maximum productivity. 

Further bolstering the rumors was a tweet from developer Steve Troughton-Smith, who had last week noticed a new addition to the WebKit that pointed towards freely resizable windows for a “multitasking mode” on the iPad. 

There’s no doubt the change will be a welcome one for creatives all over the globe who rely on a tablet to work on the go.
