The last the public heard of Meta’s Horizon Worlds, founder Mark Zuckerberg’s virtual-reality “selfie” had sent the internet into a tailspin, many pointing out how amateur its graphics looked.
Since then, Metateased an improved look within the metaverse and, at its latest Meta Connect conference, announced it will be looking to expand the service to PC and mobile devices instead of just within a headset.
Naturally, the non-VR iteration of the experience will lack certain features the headset provides. However, it will still allow users to interact with others in the virtual world through their computers or smartphones if they don’t have access to additional equipment.
In addition, according to Shack News, Meta plans on integrating a new feature for users to create Instagram Reels of their Horizon Worlds experiences, and share more aspects of the application on social media.
In the future, it’s likely that more advanced features such as TypeScript, Maya, Blender, and Adobe Substance 3D will be added to the online space for more dynamic and creative interactions.
Plus, you’ll be able to stream YouTube videos with friends in Meta Horizon Home.
Are we finally moving towards an engaging, actually tolerable experience within the metaverse? Stay tuned to see what else Meta puts forth in the coming months.
