Following the termination of his partnerships with Adidas and Balenciaga, it seems Kanye West’s branding woes have yet to cease, with Foot Locker deciding to remove all YEEZY sneakers from its sales floors and website immediately.
Despite the footwear brand’s popularity among streetwear enthusiasts, an internal message revealed all locations were told to hold their current stash of shoes in the backrooms, though this will have no effect on other Adidas releases.
The retailer issued a statement on the matter, saying it “does not tolerate any form of antisemitism, or hateful and discriminatory behavior,” referring to the controversial rant West went on that led to his brand deals being cut short.
Foot Locker toldFootwear News that while it remained a partner with Adidas, its stores will no longer be supporting any future YEEZY releases, and has instructed its retail operators “to pull any existing product” from its stores and digital sites.
Gap, which recentlyhalted its big-money deal with West, also announced it would be removing all Yeezy Gap products from its store.
Does this signal the end of YEEZY as a streetwear phenomenon, or will West somehow make a comeback in the fashion scene? Only time will tell.
