DeLorean’s Daughter Pays Homage To Late Engineer With Avant-Garde Tribute Car

Even if you don’t consider yourself the foremost petrolhead, you’ve likely heard of one of the most legendary vehicles of all time: the iconic DeLorean. 

Now, over four decades since automotive engineer John Zachary DeLorean first created the car, his daughter is following in his footsteps by developing a new sports automobile in honor of her late father.

Kat DeLorean, who founded a new company, teamed up with the team that helped construct the original DeLorean to complete this endeavor, backed by some of the top minds in the automotive industry. 

Naturally, it’s only fitting the car—dubbed the Model-JZD—is constructed in Motor City, Detroit, with assembly scheduled to begin in January 2023. 

According to the firm, Kat had worked on numerous projects with her father, making her the “perfect successor” to continue where he left off. She’d pay tribute not only to John DeLorean, but also to his business principles of quality, safety, longevity, and affordability.

In addition to creating jobs, the new company hopes to bring a new engineering program to public high schools in the region, allowing students to take on a direct pathway to apprenticeships and engineering degrees at major universities. 

It’s clear this heartwarming homage is close to Kat DeLorean’s heart, with the goal of “rebuilding the DeLorean name and brand into the ethical company her father always wanted it to be.” 

The Model-JZD is expected to be unveiled at the tail end of next year.
