Twitter’s on-again, off-again paid blue tick is back once more. But this time, the news is going to sound different to Apple users.
Previously, Twitter had faced much backlash with the new subscription scheme as placing the verification mark behind a paywall enabled impersonators of important people and organizations to assume their identities. This opened the door for misinformation.
However, the company then rectified it by providing an “Official” mark to companies, government officials, and other selected high-profile individuals. The platform is also offering colored-checkmarks to represent different institutions.
Now, it is reinstating its plan with the same $8 monthly fee for users through the web—and $3 more via iOS ($11/month).

Alongside bragging rights, paying users can upload 1080p videos, access reader mode, and edit their tweets. Their posts will also be sent straight to the top of replies, and shown only half as many advertisements as the rest of its users.
Unfortunately, it did not explicitly explain the reason behind the price difference. Reuters notes that in the last few months, Elon Musk and Apple had a short-lived feud where the new Twitter boss thought Apple had pulled all advertising and was looking to kick the microblogging service off its App Store.
One of the other issues Musk took with the tech giant was the 30% fee it charges software developers for in-app purchases.
That being said, there is no official word if that is indeed the cause for the almost 38% hike.
