Elon Musk Will Step Down As Twitter CEO When Replacement Is Found

It looks like Elon Musk is making good on his promise to abide by the results of his poll asking users if they think he should leave the position as Chief Twit. 

57.5% of over 17 million users voted “yes,” to which Musk has officially tweeted that he would resign from the role as soon as he finds “someone foolish enough to take the job.” After stepping down, he will focus on the software and sever teams behind the scenes. 

The social media platform has found itself embroiled in chaos since the billionaire took over the site in October, garnering backlash from users for its convoluted paid verification plans, a short-lived feud with Apple, and most recently, a controversial ban on links to other networks.

According to the BBC, even civil rights groups have taken issue with Musk during this period, alleging his approach to content moderation would lead to an increase in hate speech and the spread of misinformation on the platform. 

Not forgetting, global organizations, including the United Nations and European Union, have weighed in on Twitter’s decision to suspend journalists who covered the social media site, even going so far as to threaten sanctions. 

At the moment, it appears the search for Twitter’s next CEO is far from over. Musk claims there is no “successor” to his throne as Chief, tweeting that “no one wants the job who can actually keep Twitter alive.”
