Daniel Arsham Creates Miniature Porsche ‘Frozen In Time’ At Its Unveiling

Daniel Arsham’s latest project is a miniature statue of a Porsche 930 hidden mysteriously under a white veil.
 

The sculpture, called the VEILED PORSCHE, portrays a car frozen in time as its white sheet is pulled off to unveil it, leaving the viewer waiting with bated breath to see what is underneath. Peeking out from under the cloth is a hint of a baby blue-tinted Porsche.

The usage of this hue is a throwback to the original Porsche 930 Turbo, which was first manufactured between 1974 and 1989.
 
The piece measures 387 millimeters and comes in a special box weighing 16 pounds. Each iteration is given a unique number code and 3D authentication cards, which feature a pair of hands dressed in white gloves holding the car up.

In a previous project with Porsche, Arsham used the Japanese phillosophy of Wabi Sabi (the art of finding perfection in imperfection) to customize his own Porsche 1955 356.
 
This miniature sculpture is on show at the Perrotin Gallery in New York, collaborating with the art magazine Frieze. It will go on sale on January 13 via Arsham’s website.
