‘Astro Boy’ Shoes Come Alive With Cartoonish Red Boots Larger Than Your Head
Enjoy wearing shoes bigger than your head? Then, MSCHF has got your back… or your feet, rather.
The art collective has taken a stab at many odd shoes in the past, from the iconic Satan footwear down to sneakers that are disguised as a medical cast. however, these might be the biggest head-turners yet.
What really catches the eye with these boots is the cartoonish bulbous quality of their shape that is highly reminiscent of boots seen on anime characters like Astro Boy or Dora the Explorer’s best friend Boots. Whether or not they were taken directly from these characters or some other series is unknown, but the collective does cite cartoons in general as an inspiration.
The funky new footwear comes in a firetruck red and is made of a TPU rubber shell and an EVA grooved sole, with the MSCHF logo placed on its underside.
According to Hypebae, MSCHF looks to break free from the constraints of real life and dive into the wonders and utter freedom of the cartoon world. Now, you can add that sense of liberty to your wardrobe and cosplay as Boots any day of the week.
MSCHF is launching these Big Red Boots on February 17, where they will retail for US$350. That hasn’t stopped fans from finding leaks of the shoes online, as seen in the tweet below.
