With artificial intelligence making its way into the mainstream, it was only time before Meta would make its mark on the technology. The technology giant recently unveiled LLaMA, its very own language model for researchers, and now, appears to be working on AI personas.
CEO Mark Zuckerbergrevealed that the company was working on a “new top-level product group” that would center around generative AI, which in the long term will result in the creation of AI personas that can provide users with help and information on the go.
While the development appears to be in the early stages, Zuckerberg said that in the short-term, Meta will release “creative and expressive tools,” before it eventually builds up to experiences with text, such as within WhatsApp and Messenger, or with images in Instagram filters.
Of course, the firm won’t be leaving up video and “multi-modal experiences,” which could hint at possible augmented reality (AR) or virtual reality (VR) features when the time comes for the “really futuristic experiences,” as the chief put it.
It’s unlikely we’ll see the launch of any of these personas soon, but as BGR noted, the creative tools could come sooner than expected. With AI art generators, chatbots, and even radio stations up and running, one can only wonder what else Meta will have to offer.
