IKEA’s BLÅVINGAD collection of eco-friendly toys shares their family history in a series of new OOH advertisements and videos highlighting its green efforts. The campaign was created by advertising and consulting agency Memac Ogilvy and will be hosted around the UAE to introduce the collection to the Al-Futtaim store.

The new lineup of stuffed toys for children features sea creatures such as whales, orcas, and dolphins that originated from other everyday products. In order to give customers a little insight into where they came from, the plushies spoke with their “parents” to learn more about their families.

In one instance, the dolphin toy discovered that its mother was a straw and its father was a party cup. “Some would say I’m a party animal,” concludes the plushy.

In another, an orca whale learns that its mother was a tube of toothpaste while its father was a bottle of orange juice—a horrible combination in the morning, but in this case, it has resulted in a rather sweet-looking stuffed animal. Ultimately, it states that its parents being who they were made it sweet and sour, like an Aquarius.

The advertisements touch on the relatable notion of family lineage while also giving people a peek at how the company incorporates sustainable measures into its lineup. Al-Futtaim IKEA notes that by 2030, it aims only to use responsibly sourced renewable or recyclable materials.
