Huawei’s Latest All-In-One Smart Watch Comes With A Pop-Out Earpiece

Remember when Huawei squeezed a pair of wireless earbuds right into the face of its smartwatch? Well, the technology brand’s latest launch takes the “hidden component” design in a brand-new direction—this time with a Bluetooth earpiece that pops out.

Dubbed the TalkBand B7, the smartwatch differs from the Watch Buds with its slim design, ditching the typical round watch face for an elongated screen. Need to answer a call on the go? Simply pop the Bluetooth earpiece out from its socket and stick it in your ear.

As Yanko Design pointed out, the entire design seems reminiscent of the BlackBerry days from the 2000s, with the earpiece itself constructed as a chunky retro-style headset rather than the ultra-small earbuds most companies are coming up with these days.

This earbud—yes, singular—isn’t a regular earpiece, however, considering it’s attached to a 1.53-inch flexible AMOLED screen that looks akin to a mini smartphone materializing out of one’s ear.

The full-featured TalkBand B7 allows users to access common functions such as checking the time, weather, and notifications. It even offers health and exercise tracking as well as the ability to measure blood oxygen saturation levels, though there’s no GPS or NFC.  

Plus, the earpiece in itself comes with dual-mic noise cancellation so voices won’t sound muffled even in noisy environments, making it a suitable gadget for those who often attend meetings or business calls while out and about.

TalkBand B7 is expected to launch globally in May 2023 from US$145, and is compatible with devices running Android 7.0, HarmonyOS 2, or iOS 9.0 and newer.
