Microsoft Puts A Spin On Old CDs By Turning Them Into Xbox Controllers

If sustainability was a video game, Microsoft is leveling itself up with a new version of its controllers made from upcycled goods.
 
One-third of this ‘Remix Special Edition’ is made from recycled materials, in honor of Earth Day. The resin contains old gamepads, auto headlight covers, and reclaimed CDs, following up on existing controllers made from the same post-consumer goods a couple of years back.

In addition, regrind materials from leftover Xbox One controller parts are mixed into the material, which fortifies durability, according to the tech firm.
 
A muted green color inspired by lichen found in the Pacific Northwest and a swirling topography pattern on the bumpers, triggers, and side grips pay homage to the Earth’s dynamic landscape. With that, the Remix Special Edition  reminds players that saving the planet is just as important as saving their game.

And to top it all off, the controller comes with a rechargeable battery pack, so you won’t have to worry about contributing to the landfill with disposable AA batteries. Overall, the eco-conscious gaming tech is a good way to give back to the environment without skipping out on getting the highest scores.
 
The controllers will arrive on April 18 and are going for US$85.
