Elon Musk Could Soon Create ‘TruthGPT’ To Rival OpenAI’s Popular Chatbot

Recently, it was discovered that Elon Musk had created a new artificial intelligence company—dubbed X.AI Corp—shortly after lending his name to an open letter signed by hundreds of technology bigwigs calling for a six-month pause on training intelligent algorithms.

Now, the billionaire is once again warning the public of the possible dangers machine-learning tools pose, claiming that OpenAI’s popular ChatGPT chatbot has a “liberal bias” and has been trained to “lie.” 

In an interview with Fox News's Tucker Carlson, Musk said that his alternative—‘TruthGPT’—would be a “maximum truth-seeking AI that tries to understand the nature of the universe,” as a tool that acknowledges humanity is less likely to destroy it.

In spite of his decision to dabble in AI, the Tesla founder cautioned that the technology should be regulated, saying that it could potentially be “more dangerous” than cars or rockets and even has the potential of “civilizational destruction.”

While it’s currently unclear if Musk’s AI TruthGPT will come to fruition, and what its capabilities will entail, there’s no doubt the battle to be the world’s preferred chatbot is heating up.
