Last year, Disney World unveiled the Galactic Starcruiser—a stunning, Star Wars “attraction at sea” that was the first of its cruises, offering themed hotel rooms, dining areas, and activities for a fully immersive two-day experience.

During the trip, passengers would experience the plot first-hand when a First Order officer and several stormtroopers come on board the vessel to root out Resistance spies, with characters such as Chewbacca, Rey, and Kylon Ren making appearances.

Unfortunately, just a year after the cruise welcomed visitors on board, the company recently announced it will be making it will soon dock for good after it makes its final voyage in September.

While no one knows exactly why the studio has pulled the curtains on the experience, perhaps the ultra-high prices may have scared away once-excited passengers.

According to CNBC, the trip costs an estimated US$1,200 per person per day, with family packages going up to US$6,000 for the 48-hour stay. With a week-long trip to Disneyland costing nearly the same price, it was a hard ask for most.

“Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is one of our most creative projects ever and has been praised by our guests and recognized for setting a new bar for innovation and immersive entertainment,” said Disney in a statement quoted by Blog Mickey.

“This premium experience gave us the opportunity to try new things on a smaller scale of 100 rooms, and we will what we’ve learned to create future experiences that can reach more of our guests and fans.”
