Earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz teamed up with Superplastic, a Vermont-based design studio that often collaborates with luxury brands such as Gucci and Tommy Hilfiger to make collectibles. With Mercedes-Benz, it created a modern take on the Wackeldackel with the ‘Superdackel’. It first started as a digital campaign in January, with a short film of the newly improved dog and some of Superplastic’s characters, such as Janky and Guggimon.
Superdackel is now heading into the real world and could soon reach your dashboard in a limited count of 65 toys. It stands at 11 inches, and is designed out of American lumber. If you’ve missed having a little buddy, this updated version will set you back US$3,500 to keep you company on the long drive home.
Alongside it is a series of clothes, including hoodies, t-shirts, and hats, featuring a reworked Mercedes-Benz logo incorporating the Superdackel head. There are also matching neck scarves and collars for you and your pet so you can ride in style together. The collar comes in small and medium.
The apparel and toy line is now available online at Superplastic.com, and prices start at US$64. After launching an official collection with Tommy Hilfiger for its AMG racing division, Mercedes-Benz has been on a fashion push recently.
