BMW Debuts ‘Youthful’ Electric Moto That’s Neither A Motorcycle Nor A Scooter
Those looking for a brand-new, electric ride to pair with BMW’s latest ConnectedRide Smartglasses won’t have to look much further, as the automaker has introduced its latest electric moto—the CE 02—that isn’t a regular motorcycle or scooter.
Instead, the chic electric mobile is described as an ‘eParkourer’: a dynamic, innovative kind of mobility that “provides great riding fun in an urban environment.” According to the brand, the vehicle was designed to appeal especially to young people living in bustling cities.
Upon first glance, one will notice the CE 02’s large, sturdy wheels, which make for easy riding on a variety of terrains. Its overall design centers on principles of being “nimble,” “practical,” and “robust,” with black as the basic color used for the frame, wheels, front fender, and more.
The eParkourer’s engine features a granite gray metallic matte coating as a stark contrast to the other high-gloss surfaces. If that seems too boring, a special Highline iteration of the ride offers an extroverted and more colorful appearance, complete with gold accents and a tape design.
BMW noted that riders aged 16 and above can power up the vehicle to a maximum output of 11 kW. With a top speed of 95 km/h (59 m/ph) and a range of 90 km (56 miles), there’s no doubt the CE 02 is equipped to traverse both on speedy expressways and for extended adventures.
In addition, there’s a 4 kW version limited to traveling at 45 km/h (28 m/ph). This iteration meets the requirements of the AM driving license class and can be ridden in Germany by riders aged 15 and above with a driver’s license.
Riders will be able to enjoy two riding modes—‘Flow’ and ‘Surf’—the former offering the optimal set-up for cruising in urban traffic, while the latter boasts a “dynamic driving experience” when one’s not stuck in traffic. There’s even a ‘Flash’ driving mode available with additional equipment.
