Krispy Kreme Serves Up ‘Pup’kin Spice’ Doughnuts For Dogs To Fall In Love With

Furry friends can now have a lick of what their pumpkin spice-loving companions have been incessantly harping about. For fall, Krispy Kreme is releasing ‘Pup’kin Spice’ doughnuts, allowing humans and pets alike to huddle up over a sweet, spicy treat while the leaves turn.

The launch, timed with National Dog Day on August 26, introduces four delightful flavors for your favorite basic bitch: Pup’kin Spice Original Glazed, Pup’kin Spice Cake, Pup’kin Spice Maple Peanut and Pup’kin Spice Cheesecake Swirl. These arrive in a special box for half a dozen dognuts.

It’s the second time Krispy Kreme has served up ring-shaped snacks for puppers. This time last year, the chain dished out Doggie Doughnuts in classic options like Original Glazed and Chocolate Iced.

Just like the previous edition, the new seasonal treats are crafted by Australian pet bakery Huds and Toke. And rather than the fluffy sugary clouds you’re used to having, these ones are more like cookies, baked until firm to accommodate those canine chompers. Needless to say, eaters will be barking up the right crispy (or Krispy?) tree when they enjoy these snacks.

The autumnal doggy doughnuts feature ingredients like pumpkin, with about 90% of them being chock full of peanut butter, The Messenger reports. For the chocolate component, Krispy Kreme and Hud and Toke have opted for carob, a chocolate substitute that’s safe for dogs to consume.

“Dogs add so much to our lives, so for National Dog Day we’ve upped our game for you to give them the awesome treat they deserve,” explains Dave Skena, global chief brand officer for Krispy Kreme. “We know you love our Pumpkin Spice and now it’s time for dogs to get in on the action. We’re pawsitive (groan) your dogs will love them.”

It’s worth noting that the Pup’kin Spice biscuits are meant as an indulgence, and shouldn’t be treated as a full meal for Fido. They’re intended as part of a little bonding activity with pet owners, who also have their own versions of Krispy Kremes “mixed, stuffed, sprinkled, and topped” with pumpkin spice.

The sweet and warming tribute doesn’t end here. The brand is also rolling out green and white Krispy Kreme-themed bandanas peppered with dog, bone, and doughnut motifs.

The Pup’kin Spice doughnuts will be available from August 24 through 31, and fans can retrieve(r) them at participating stores as well as drive-thrus in the US. Time to paws and smell the spice!
