Krispy Kreme Creates Doughnuts For Dogs Because They Deserve A Treat, Or Six
Krispy Kreme is making its world-famous human treats friendly for man’s best friend in time for National Dog Day on August 26, because Fifi should have something to pair with her coffee-free coffee (AKA ‘Puppuccino’).
The doughnut chain is serving up Doggie Doughnuts, and to make your pooch feel extra pampered, they’ll even arrive in a variety of familiar flavors: Original Glazed; Chocolate Cookie; Chocolate Sprinkles; Chocolate Iced; Strawberry Sprinkles; and Chocolate Cheesecake.
“But dogs can’t have chocolate,” we hear you say. Well, worry not as real chocolate isn’t going into these snacks. Instead, Krispy Kreme will be using a substitute called carob.
In fact, Doggie Doughnuts are crafted from all-natural ingredients. Human nature makes it tempting for some owners to taste them, and thankfully, the ingredients used are also human-grade.
To be clear, these aren’t real doughnuts but nutty dog biscuits made by Australian pet treat bakery Huds and Toke. They were introduced in Australia last year and are now rolling out in the US due to barking success.
Dave Skena, global chief brand officer for Krispy Kreme, explains that the brand is serving Doggie Doughnuts for National Dog Day to thank fluffy friends for being there for their human companions during a difficult last couple of years. “They deserve this special treat,” says Skena.
Available in a box of six assorted snacks, the Doggie Doughnuts will be sold at Krispy Kreme locations from August 26, while supplies last.
