Sony Presents Gaming Earbuds That’ll Cost As Much As Its Portable PlayStation
Recently, Sony introduced the PlayStation Portal—a gaming device that puts the PS5 into the palms of players’ hands. Apart from the gadget itself, the brand is releasing an accompanying wireless headset and wireless earbuds.
These accessories won’t come cheap, however, considering the latter will cost just as much as the handheld console itself when it retails at US$199.99.
While it’s too early to tell if the Pulse Explore earbuds will justify their price tag, the brand claims the device will “amplify the audio experience in gaming and make the gameplay experience more immersive through enhanced sound.”
According to a blog post, more details will soon be released about the wireless earphones, though the firm confirmed it will come equipped with dual microphones and artificial intelligence noise rejection that will allow it to filter out background sounds.
Additionally, the gadget will provide gamers with a lossless audio experience, complete with custom-designed planar magnetic drivers for an “audiophile-level listening experience” typically only found at premium price points.
In terms of connectivity, the Pulse Explore earbuds will allow users to link directly to the PlayStation Portal using PlayStation Link, the brand’s latest wireless audio technology.
This technology allows for low latency and lossless audio while enabling convenient switching between multiple hosts so one can jump from the PlayStation Portal to the PS5 and back.
“We can’t wait to launch our new line of products for PS5, so players can play longer and experience its heightened immersiveness,” the company said.
