Rihanna Teams Up With Puma To Give Its Classic Soccer Boot An Updated Look

After launching a maternity line with Savage X Fenty last month, Rihanna has joined forces with Puma once again on a brand-new collaboration: the Fenty x Puma Avanti.

This partnership marks the superstar’s return as the creative director of the label, with a multi-year deal that promises several exciting product launches.

Fans of the original Avanti sneaker will realize the Fenty x Puma redesign doesn’t look exactly like the iconic shoe created in 2001.

The updated look merges the quality leather craftsmanship of the King football boot with the classic outsole of the heritage running shoe, Easy Rider.

Interestingly, as the duo wanted this release to be accessible to everyone, the Avanti will be launched as a unisex shoe for both adults and kids.

For those unfamiliar with the Avanti, it is one of Puma’s most famous shoes and has a rich history dating back to the original King soccer boot in 1968.

Famously worn by legends like Eusebio, Pelé, and Maradona, the footwear evolved into the PUMA Easy Rider in 1978 and saw its first fashion collaboration with Jil Sander in 1998.

Now, in 2023, Rihanna has left her mark on the Avanti by choosing to adorn it in buttery soft vintage leather, a fold-over tongue with debossed and printed gold-foil Fenty and Puma Cat logos, a gum outsole, and a leather footbed.

Fans can choose from the classic black-and-white version or a chrome execution with laser-etched logos and leather chrome details.

Head here for more information about the collection, launching September 15, 2023. A second Avanti release is already in the works.
