McDonald’s in Japan is reminding eaters to savor the simple moments with a series of animated spots most fans will resonate with. Operative word, “most,” as they’ve somehow sparked a debate among fans in other parts of the world too.
The campaign brings three clips, all set against a track that emanates lofi hip-hop vibes. The joyful advertisements were created by Japanese artist Urachan, according to Siliconera.
One of them sees a group of young friends casually munching on Chicken McNuggets and fries while reading and checking their phones.
Another, with a Halloween theme, imagines monsters enjoying the deeply human McDonald’s experience.
The animation that went viral worldwide depicts a father, mother, and child bonding over a meal.
While the video’s key demographic might find this scene wholesome, fans who grew up with a different kind of culture have labeled it as “propaganda” for a “pro-family” agenda.
“I am not immune to pro-family propaganda,” one person teases.
