Paint company Benjamin Moore has revealed its Color of the Year for 2024: Blue Nova 825. This captivating shade is a subtle blend of blue and violet, taking inspiration from the enigmatic formation of a new star in the vast expanse of space.
“Blue Nova 825 is an alluring mid-tone that balances depth and intrigue with classic appeal and reassurance,” explains the color marketing and development director Andrea Magno at Benjamin Moore.
The hue is meant to “beckon us to unknown places in search of new experiences.” While it might not entirely inspire one to traverse to every corner of the universe, it does bring a touch of twilight into a space, creating a serene and dreamlike atmosphere.
Benjamin Moore’s color forecasting methodology distinguishes itself from the more common single-hue focus of entities like PANTONE, opting for a comprehensive palette that offers a broader spectrum of design possibilities.
The brand’s color forecasting reveals an entire palette designed to complement this star shade, providing a fusion of both traditional and contemporary design elements. This Color Trends 2024 palette is a collection of contrasts: light and dark, warm and cool, and complementary and contrasting hues come together in a vibrant display.
Magno adds that “these contrasts invite us to break away from the ordinary to explore new places and collect color memories that shape the hues used in our homes.”
