Ryan Gosling is closing the year with big Kenergy.
The Hollywood A-lister, who brought Ken to life in Greta Gerwig’s much-raved-about Barbie movie, has released Ken The EP alongside renowned producer Mark Ronson and Atlantic Records, offering fresh spins to the Grammy-nominated I’m Just Ken track and adding depth to the character.
Arriving in time for the holidays is the seasonal I’m Just Ken (Merry Kristmas Barbie), which comes with an accompanying music video.
The moody, festive rendition has ironically struck a chord with fans, culminating with Gosling pensively uttering, “Merry Christmas, Barbie, wherever you are.”
As amusing as it is, the mildly melancholic line pays homage to Mud’s classic Lonely This Christmas, which ends with, “Merry Christmas, darling, wherever you are.”
When Ryan said “Merry Kristmas Barbie…. Wherever you are” I was simply left speechless. His voice 𤤠pic.twitter.com/BkiKUs5cbf
It’s clear that Ken is more than just a plastic heartthrob—he’s got range too.
The EP also offers an acoustic version, perfect for being “in [your] feelings,” and a vibrant dance remix by Purple Disco Machine, ensuring there’s a version for every type of Ken and setting.
