Microsoft Copilot, Formerly Bing Chat, Makes GPT-4 Free On iPhones & Androids

Microsoft has quietly introduced its Copilot tool, previously known as Bing Chat, to mobile users on both Android and iOS. The rollout provides free access to OpenAI’s advanced language model, GPT-4—a feature typically locked behind its US$20/month ChatGPT Plus subscription service—offering comprehensive digital assistance on the go.

The Copilot app enables users to perform tasks ranging from asking questions and crafting summaries to drafting emails and creating images.

With GPT-4 support, it means it can accept visual inputs too. Notably, it includes integration with the text-to-image generator DALL-E 3.

Users on iPhones, iPads, and Android devices can interact with the mobile app through typed questions or voice recognition, tailoring the AI’s responses to be more creative, balanced, or precise according to their needs.

To use the latest GPT version, you will first need to toggle the ‘Use GPT-4’ option when you start a new conversation with the chatbot. 

On a similar note, Copilot’s features are accessible directly within the Edge browser on mobile devices and the SwiftKey toolbar.

Microsoft Copilot is available for download from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
