Microsoft’s Bing AI Now Lets You Create Images Within Its Chat Using DALL-E

Bing’s artificial intelligence chatbot shows no signs of slowing down. Previously, it was revealed the Microsoft toolkit has a hidden feature in which users can access a secret ‘celebrity’ mode in which the system impersonates famous figures and answers questions in their voice.

Now, the experience—which has already surpassed 100 million chats to date—is adding image generation to the extensive list of tasks it can perform, making the toolkit a greater help to users who rely on visuals.

According to Microsoft, Bing Image Creator will be powered by an advanced version of the DALL-E image generator created by OpenAI. Simply tell the chatbot in a few words the scene in your mind’s eye, choose an art style, and it’ll appear on the screen.

Naturally, the fact that users can now generate both written and visual content in one place makes Bing’s AI chatbot even more convenient. nd it’s no surprise the company is choosing to expand into images, as it’s the most searched category next to general web searches.

Plus, considering that the human brain processes visual information 60,000 times faster than written text, pictures have become a staple in internet-driven lives. Now, with the integrated feature, search queries are no longer limited to images that already exist on the web.

Bing Image Creator can be accessed via ‘creative mode’ in the chatbot or via the Microsoft Edge browser. To tap on the tool in Edge, users can select the generator’s icon in the sidebar to churn out the images or trigger the full Bing chat page.

To prevent users from misusing DALL-E, Microsoft reports that its system has built-in capabilities to detect potentially harmful images. If it senses something’s amiss, the prompt will be blocked and the user will be warned to edit the description.
