Nothing Teases ‘Budget’ Phone 2a With Trimmed-Down Design

Nothing is gearing up to launch its latest creation, the Nothing Phone 2a, a new entrant poised to be a more wallet-friendly option.
The Nothing Phone 2 carved out a niche for itself by delivering a solid Android experience and minimalist design without breaking the bank. However, the upcoming Phone 2a is set to take affordability to the next level. Early whispers hint at a price tag that’s about half of its predecessor, hovering around the US$400 mark.

An “official-looking” render showcases the Phone 2a sporting a transparent back—a nod to Nothing’s aesthetic ethos—but notably missing are the wireless charging coil and the Glyph interface’s LEDs, perhaps for cost reduction reasons. This UI/UX system, known for its unique light patterns that provide visual notifications, has been a distinctive feature of Nothing's phones.

Leaked images suggest the budget-friendly device will boast a dual rear-facing camera setup and a generous 6.7-inch display, with the back panel believed to sport a circular element and two cameras.
Under the hood, the Phone 2a is anticipated to pack a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 processor, with options for 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. The display is said to be a 120Hz OLED, paired with a dual 50MP camera setup.
As for the release date, Nothing is giving fans… nothing. However, enthusiasts should jot dot February 27 on their calendars, when Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 is expected to serve as the backdrop for the Phone 2a’s grand debut.
