ChatGPT is dishing out the burns, and Instagram users are feeling the heat. When it’s not busy penning essays and crunching numbers, OpenAI’s artificial intelligence chatbot is indulging its new hobby: roasting Instagram profiles with digital panache.
This new internet trend has social media users flocking to their Instagram Stories with a viral template encouraging them to share some ruthless AI-powered commentary.

Participants have been taking screenshots of their carefully curated feeds and serving it up to the discerning digital eyes of ChatGPT, which can interpret text and visual prompts. Here’s what the AI said about DesignTAXI’s Instagram feed:
“It looks like your Instagram feed is a chaotic blend of high-brow satire, bizarre tech innovations, and pop culture quirks—all served with a side of surrealism and a sprinkle of existential dread. You’re basically living in a world where sloths win comedy photo contests, Wi-Fi-resistant clothing is a thing, and Heinz collaborates with Kate Spade. Are you sure you’re not secretly brainstorming the next big Black Mirror episode?
“It’s like you’ve curated a feed where anything can happen—David Attenborough changes the color of tennis balls while Toys “R” Us gets torn apart by AI. Even your logos are getting surreal makeovers. You might need to unplug and check if the Matrix is messing with your algorithm, or maybe you're just embracing the wonderfully weird in all its unpredictable glory. Either way, your feed says one thing loud and clear: normal is overrated.”

From sending out zingers about overly manicured aesthetics to calling out repetitive content themes, ChatGPT isn’t pulling any punches.
I let ChatGPT roast my Instagram feed. I've never read a true-er statement. I love it ð¤£. pic.twitter.com/iy4rw3hlMA

Have y’all seen that IG trend of asking ChatGPT to roast your feed?

Well, RIP me bc this is the most savage takedown I’ve ever been the victim of. pic.twitter.com/PVdtm9bSk6
However, not everyone is laughing. This trend has sparked a debate about the implications of willingly handing over personal data to AI systems. It's a particularly thorny issue for artists, many of whom have been vocal opponents of AI training on their work, yet find themselves participating in this viral phenomenon.
The irony hasn’t been lost on some observers. One user pointedly remarked, “No one cares what ChatGPT said about your feed. We saw you willingly feed the machine yourself and that was enough of a self destruction any roast could be.” Another chimed in with a cheeky alternative: “I’ll do it for you babes, and for much less electricity.”
anyone else find it unsettling that the latest instagram stories trend is to hand your profile over to chatgpt just to get a mildly silly goofy roast? no? just me? cool cool cool

It’s worth noting that ChatGPT does indeed save conversation data to improve its models, unless users specifically opt out. So if you’re wary, make sure you have the setting toggled off before trying your hand at this craze.

You cannot be against AI but then have "fun" uploading YOUR WHOLE FUCKING FEED into chatGPT for it to ROAST IT?? Literally ask any of your art friends why this oh my

ohhhhh my god u asked chatgpt to roast you? should we tell everyone? Should we throw a party? should we invite openAI to scrape all your most precious memories, the art on which you've built your career, and anything else it wants for the purposes of machine learning

Asking chatgpt to roast your Instagram feed is giving all of your Instagram pictures to AI so they can use it however they want for free btw

This ‘let chatGPT roast your feed’ trend primarily being used by independent artists and makers is definitely something!!
