Urwerk’s ‘Space-Time Blade’ Clock Is Like A Lightsaber That Can Tell The Time

Swiss watchmaker Urwerk has joined forces with manufacturer Dalibor Farny to create a truly unique timepiece called the ‘Space-Time Blade’.
Urwerk was founded in 1997 by Felix Baumgartner and Martin Frei. The brand is known for its innovative and unconventional approach to watchmaking, creating distinctive timepieces with unique designs and intricate complications.
This has led to the creation of its latest horological venture, a 65.7-inch clock housed in a glass tube. Its steampunk nature reminds one of a cross between a lightsaber and a sword—which going off its name, is probably what it was going for.
The Space-Time Blade features Nixie tubes that display the hours, minutes, and seconds. But that’s not all—two additional tubes showcase the Earth’s rotation in kilometers.
The inspiration behind the design comes from a 19th-century piece by Gustave Sandoz called Equatorial Time, which also displayed the Earth’s orbit. This combined with elements from Urwerk’s previous masterpiece, the UR-100 SpaceTime wristwatch.
If you’re eager to get your hands on this one-of-a-kind timepiece, mark your calendars for the Only Watch charity auction in November. The Space-Time Blade will be auctioned off, with estimated prices ranging from $50,000 to $90,000.
