‘Crazy Rich Asians’ In Real Life Takes You Into Their Lavish Couture Lifestyles
By Yoon Sann Wong, 20 Aug 2018
Crazy Rich Asians has clinched the top spot in the US box office following its opening weekend.
This adaptation based on Kevin Kwan’s novel of the same name revolves around an Asian-American woman who is surprised to learn that her boyfriend comes from an extremely wealthy family in Singapore.
The film has received a great deal of attention for being the first Hollywood movie since 1993’s The Joy Luck Club that features an all-Asian cast.
While the extravagance and lavishness depicted inside the movie might seem far-fetched, author Kwan maintains that “150 percent” of his book is based on reality.
In this short video by Harper’s BAZAAR, Kwan takes you to Paris where he meets four Asian style icons—Feiping Chang, sisters Rachel and Michelle Yeoh, and Heart Evangelista—who invite the author into the exclusive world of couture, where everything is custom-fitted especially for the customer.
