Boohoo Gets Accused For Having Its Models Wear Pillows To Promote Maternity Line
By Izza Sofia, 22 Jan 2019
Clothing retailer Boohoo has been accused of creating fake baby bumps on its models with pillows to promote its range of maternity clothes.
Some eagle-eyed shoppers took to Twitter to call out the questionable ballooned bellies. The “pregnant” models appeared with square-like bumps that seem to protrude at weird angles.
Social media users criticized Boohoo for not using real pregnant models to showcase its maternity line or even trying to making the supposed pseudo bumps appear “convincing.”
One Twitter user said, “Really Boohoo, you really expect us to believe that this is a ‘pregnant belly’ you can literally see the pillow stuffed up her dress.” Another shopper commented, “Boohoo you lot couldn’t find a pregnant model? Lol. That belly ain’t fooling anyone. I’m actually dying of laughter.”
One of the models used for the maternity line, Camilla Moraes, has not shared any photo of her pregnant self on Instagram, which suggests that she did not actually have a pregnant tummy for the shoot.
A photo taken in November 2018 showed Moraes dolling up for a Boohoo shoot, and in December 2018, she was tagged in the images with no baby bump in sight.

I was shopping got maternity clothes online this week and found it so hard to take @boohoo range seriously with the fake bumps and tiny models, however most brands do the same. Why they don’t use real pregnant women I don’t know 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️#maternityclothes
