In honor of the Bauhaus school of design’s 100th anniversary, graphic design company 99designs invited its community to reimagine the logos of 21 of the world’s biggest brands in this influential style. Names include National Geographic, BBC, Starbucks, Netflix, Burger King, LEGO, and Google, amongst others.
Though it was founded in 1919, Bauhaus continues to inspire modern design through its bold, minimalist and practical creations across specializations such as architecture, interior design, graphic design, typography, and industrial design.
On its blog, 99designs explains, “It’s arguable which characteristics constitute Bauhaus design—it’s more of a ‘know-it-when-you-see-it’ deal. That said, these are the five common threads that almost every Bauhaus design follows: form follows function; minimalism; revolutionary typography; passion for geometry; primary colors.”
Preview some of the designs below and head over to 99designs, where you can see all 21 logos and learn more about the Bauhaus style, as well as how each of the aforementioned principles translate into the various logo recreations.
