Goodyear Blimp Is Offering College Football Fans An Overnight Stay In Airship
By Yimin Huang, 09 Oct 2019
Football fans are likely to be familiar with the sight of the Goodyear Blimp, as it is often used to capture aerial views of the live sporting events.
Now, to commemorate the 150th anniversary of college football, the blimp is available on Airbnb for three one-night stays throughout October.
Per Airbnb, the Goodyear Blimp is open for stays on 22, 23 and 24 October, in the hangar based in Mogadore, Ohio. The cost is US$150 for two lodgers.
Guests can book their stay on either of these dates, before the University of Michigan’s game against Notre Dame on 26 October in Ann Arbor.
Visitors can take a look around the hangar, which is approximately as large as two football fields. Goodyear’s chief pilot Jerry Hissem will be hosting the stay and sharing with visitors what operating the blimp is like.
The facilities inside the hangar are diverse, with a private football lounge and TV set showing college football games. Visitors can feel free to have their friends over in the lounge before they enter the gondola for the night.
Though the actual blimp allows only two guests to have an overnight stay, four additional friends can still hang out in the area.
Furthermore, all visitors can enjoy food and concessions, as stated in the official website. They can also relax by Wingfoot Lake State Park beside the hangar.
The two lucky overnight guests will also receive free tickets to the University of Michigan football game against Notre Dame in Ann Arbor on 26 October.
To stand a chance to reserve the space, interested guests can visit the listing page here.

MOGADORE, Ohio - For the first time, the Goodyear Blimp is inviting fans to spend a night inside the iconic aircraft. The Akron-based tire company is listing its blimp on Airbnb for three, one-night-only stays on Oct. 22, 23 and 24, leading up to the Notre Dame vs. Michigan game on Oct. 26. Two guests can spend one night in the blimp for $150, plus taxes and fees. The booking does not include a ride in the blimp, which will be docked at Wingfoot Lake Airship Hangar in Mogadore - the world’s oldest airship base, according to Goodyear. The stay will be hosted by Goodyear Chief Pilot Jerry Hissam, who can answer questions about his job and the aircraft. He will show guests around the property, which includes a football-themed lounge and a lakefront spot with a grill, fire pit, cornhole and other “tailgate essentials." Guests will also receive tickets to the Oct. 26 game in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The company said it will roll out opportunities to book a stay throughout the day on Oct. 15, so fans should keep an eye on the Airbnb listing. Later this year, the Goodyear Blimp will become the first non-player or coach to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame for providing aerial game coverage since 1955. The blimp has soared above more than 2,000 entertainment events, & while some guests have boarded for a ride, this is the 1st time fans can stay overnight inside the gondola. • #goodyear #blimp #airbnb #stayovernight #sleep #goodyearblimp #akron #cleveland #akr #cle #ohio #hotel #tire #tires #racing #airbnbhost #rental #vacation #blimps #onceinalifetime #fun #thingstodo #autumn #fall #notredame #mogadore #collegefootball #halloffame #brennerbrothers #prollygonedoit
