US$3K ‘Jesus’ Nikes Imagine What A Streetwear Collab With Christ Looks Like

Jesus, take the heel.
While “thou shalt not covet” was one of the Ten Commandments set in stone by Moses, that’s all people are doing nowadays to augment their shoe collections.
One product design company, MSCHF, is poking fun at the “collab culture” preached by several brands with Jesus Shoes: Nike Air Max 97s topped up with holy water so wearers can walk on water almost like Jesus did.
Spoofing streetwear collaborations like the Arizona Iced Tea x adidas sneakers, MSCHF went big and picked “one of the most influential figures in history” as a possible business partner, said Daniel Greenberg, the company’s head of commerce, to the New York Post.
“We were wondering, what would a collab with Jesus Christ look like?” he added. Being a Jew, all he knew was that Jesus “walked on water.”
That became a prominent design element in Jesus Shoes, where 60cc of holy water, blessed by a priest, from the Jordan River is injected into the Nike sneakers’ bubble soles.
The entire silhouette is crafted with 100-percent frankincense wool, and the Lord’s “branding” booms with a steel crucifix attached to the footwear’s laces.
It is worth noting, though, that Nike is not involved in any part of this launch.
As only 20 of their kind are available, Jesus Shoes are selling for US$3,000 on sneaker marketplace StockX, though the originator retails them at US$1,425.
While MSCHF has collaborated with brands like Netflix and MTV, Greenberg admits “this one was the holiest” partnership of them all.
The brand plans on dropping the sneakers “on every second and fourth Tuesday of each month.” Find out more about Jesus Shoes here.
