Virgil Abloh has been milking streetwear enthusiasts’ anticipation for his collaboration with IKEA. At long last, fans now have an advert for the MARKERAD collection, and can now have a better sense of how to fit the capsule’s items in their home.
The commercial, artsier and a touch dimmer than most IKEA ads out there, shows an actor staring at the range’s “TEMPORARY” clock. It then cuts to a crowd snapping photos of a backlit Mona Lisa reproduction that doubles as a phone charger.
The actor is later shown straightening a crumpled IKEA receipt, which is held against a massive receipt-inspired print. He is also standing on a green rug with the words “WET GRASS”.
Other notable items previewed in the film include Abloh’s cardboard box-like take on the blue FRAKTA bag, as well as a chair with a doorstep.
The wait isn’t long. Virgil Abloh x IKEA’s MARKERAD collection will drop on 1 November.
