Since the big reveal event of Tesla’s Cybertruck, Elon Musk has kept fans updated on Twitter regarding the incident, where its “armor glass”—touted as bulletproof—was shattered by a steel ball.
According to the Tesla CEO, the impact from the sledgehammer from the previous experiment on the door had cracked the base of the glass, which was why the “steel ball didn’t bounce off.”
Musk also explained that the company “should have done [the test with the] steel ball on [the] window,” and then “sledgehammer the door” instead of starting with the sledgehammer.
However, Musk also shared that the pickup truck will be the brand’s “last product unveil for a while,” but has kept fans anticipated for more announcements in 2020. The man behind Tesla additionally expressed a possibility of producing “a smaller Cybertruck” in time.
Despite the fallback, Musk explained that the Cybertruck saw a surge in preorders with over 200,000 during the weekend alone.

Yup. Sledgehammer impact on door cracked base of glass, which is why steel ball didn’t bounce off. Should have done steel ball on window, *then* sledgehammer the door. Next time …— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) November 25, 2019
