Gucci’s New Handwritten Logo Is Drawing Serious Attention Among Internet Users
By Izza Sofia, 15 Jan 2020
Gucci has unveiled an updated logo on Facebook, causing a stir among internet users.
The new logo signals the brand’s upcoming Fall/Winter 2020 collection, which debuted on Wednesday.
To some, the unusual branding—which has been splashed across other signages in the collection—resembles a young child’s handwriting.
The font features a “scratchy, fountain pen-esque scrawl” that is full of blots and discrepancies, reminding fans of their childhood days.
The wordmark has sent many social media users into a flurry, and has even sparked a trend among Vietnamese social media users, who have switched their profile pictures to show text written in a similar style.
The luxury brand has also released teaser posters with the tagline “Rave Like You Are Five,” which is inspired by kids’ birthday parties.
The campaign, conceptualized by Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele, additionally includes event invitations that mirror birthday party invitations not unlike those that children would write to their friends.
The design is a huge leap from Gucci’s usual logo, which appears more sleek and uniform. The new identity sings a more playful and youthful look, which could perhaps be translated in the collection’s garments.

‘You are invited to my fifth birthday rave, Ale’. Alessandro Michele designed the invitations for the men’s Gucci Fall Winter 2020 fashion show, which are inspired by vintage French postcards and the embellished birthday party invitations the children of nobility sent to their friends.
