Adobe Lightroom Trick Works As Easy Dodge & Burn Tool ‘For Lazy People’

Whether they have made their own presets or memorized key shortcuts for photo-editing software, creative professionals have their own ways to tailor work processes to their preferences. If you use Adobe Lightroom or are looking to simplify your Photoshop process, here’s one more.
Photographer Serge Ramelli has shared a neat “dodge and burn” technique that is quicker and less excruciating than if you were to use the dodge and burn tools. The “hack” isn’t entirely new; Ramelli said he found out about it online but can’t remember who he learned it from.
Nevertheless, this is a formidable timesaver for creative professionals who haven’t been acquainted with this shortcut. Ramelli demonstrated in a video that similar results can be achieved with Lightroom’s Range Mask slider in just seconds.
The photography educator described it as “the best-kept secret to dodge and burn in Lightroom,” but photographer Jim Moyer took things further by calling it “dodge and burn for lazy people” in the comments section.
The best part is that this post-processing trick is applicable for “all photos.”
