Wes Anderson sent film buffs on disarray when the poster for the upcoming The French Dispatch dropped, revealing its A-list cast.
Also worth waxing lyrical about is the artwork, illustrated by Javi Aznarez. The poster offers clues to the inspiration behind the film’s plot—it is loosely based on the inner workings of The New Yorker magazine.
Apart from the obvious influences, social media users have said that the poster is also stirring up childhood memories of The Adventures of Tintin and, amusingly, Richard Scarry’s illustrations.
The French Dispatch, a comedy-drama film showing life inside the office of a fictional weekly magazine, will open in theaters on 24 July 2020.
Reminds me of this vintage @NewYorker cover (with a dash of Tintin!). pic.twitter.com/EnS0FJQgZw

What I want to know is how much is the rent to live inside Wes Anderson’s head #TheFrenchDispatch pic.twitter.com/fcN1uvPjaX

I think we’re probably only a few years away from Wes Anderson adapting a Richard Scarry book. pic.twitter.com/6dPVbCt1nH
