Barbie Joins The Olympics With Athlete Dolls Championing Diverse Sports

Barbie maker Mattel has unveiled a lineup of athlete dolls in celebration of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Each variation represents a sports activity from the Games like skateboarding, softball, karate, sport climbing, and surfing.
To symbolize the competing sports, each doll is assigned with accessories relating to the category. For instance, the skateboarder doll is assembled with a pink helmet, skateboard, and wrist and knee safety guards.
The dolls are also dressed in Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games jackets along with plastic medals on a ribbon, so children can host their own medal ceremonies.
Barbie will also be teaming up with real-life Olympic athletes like skateboarder Lizzie Armanto and rock climber Kyra Condie during the Barbie You Can Be Anything Festival in March. The athletes will speak on their success and hold workshops for aspiring attendees.
